5th Global Ministerial Summit on Patient Safety

Patient safety is a major public health issue. Studies show that around 10% of patients experience an adverse event during medical treatment, and that half of these events are preventable. Concretely, this can result, for example, in inappropriate medication or bedsores in bedridden people.

Switzerland is very committed to this topic and is organizing the 5th Ministerial Summit on Patient Safety on February 27 and 28, 2020.

This is an event which has been held every year since 2016 and which brings together experts and political decision-makers to exchange ideas on ways to improve patient safety. The theme of this fifth summit will be the practical implementation of measures to strengthen patient safety. The first day will be dedicated mainly to exchanges between professionals around specific themes. The second day will welcome ministerial delegations from Europe and elsewhere to discuss best practices and the measures to be adopted.
