Who are we?
The success of Montreux as a tourist resort led to its decision to launch out into the organisation of cultural and corporate events. A new image, stemming from the Septembre Musical, created in 1946, and the Jazz Festival, created in 1967, gave Montreux world-wide renown. Continuing on its chosen path of event and business tourism, in 1973 Montreux opened a Convention Centre on the shores of Lake Geneva. Extended in 1981, the Convention Centre, in its present form with vast ceiling to floor windows, was opened in 1993 with the inauguration of the prestigious Stravinski Auditorium and concert hall.
In May 2006, the Montreux Convention Centre changed its name to become the Montreux Music & Convention Centre (2m2c) to better correspond to its growing reputation built on music and events.
Centre de Congrès Montreux SA and the trademarks, "Montreux Music & Convention Centre” and “2m2c”, are used as names for the premises.
The Montreux Music & Convention Centre is a Société Anonyme [SA - public limited company] with capital of 1 million Swiss francs whose shares are all held by the commune of Montreux. The object of the SA is to market the 2m2c, host sold events and ensure that it is properly operated and well maintained (building and associated installations).
The 2m2c has 30 full-time employees and calls on outside contractors when necessary.

The Montreux Music & Convention Centre (2m2c) is known locally and internationally for its ability to successfully host professional and cultural events, events that serve and enrich the Montreux community, both by their cultural content and their international influence or the economic spinoffs that they generate.
Our role is not limited to placing spaces and equipment at disposal. We act proactively offering proposals, advice and solutions to our partners and customers, calling on our excellent knowledge and full control of our infrastructures, drawing on our past experience in our most significant successes whilst remaining creative, innovative and capable of calling ourselves into question.
Member of “Tourism for Development”, “Green Globe” and “United Nation Global Compact”, the 2m2c recognises that, as a firm, it has an ecological responsibility and undertakes to define its own challenges and objectives in terms of sustainable development and to express these in its policy, projects and management practices.
Economical cooling system
The air conditioning of the 2m2c is via a pumping station drawing water from deep in the lake. The water is drawn at a depth of 80 meters, 300 meters from the shore. This system provides air conditioning in the 2m2c and the Fairmont Montreux Palace. This ecological installation allows a reduction of close to 700,000 Kwh/year in energy consumption, which represents a saving of 35% per year. The 2m2c is determined to ensure this system continues to function correctly in order to maintain these figures.
Rational use of energy
The 2m2c uses integrated low-energy light bulbs practically everywhere in the building. In addition, an infrared sensor system is activated when there is no event activity in order to reduce electricity consumption linked to lighting. The 2m2c prefers to use energy-saving florescent tubes and wishes to install them throughout the building. The 2m2c has also recently installed two gas-fired boilers using natural gas, a fuel with low emissions that are not toxic for humans, animals, the soil or water, and allowing energy savings through condensation, modulation, and heat recovery technologies.
Protection of nature and the countryside
The metal structure of the 2m2c is protected by a plant roof, whose primary function is to improve the evacuation of dampness as well as to create and conserve a green area.
Prevention of pollution and management of waste-linked risks
With an average of 130 tonnes of waste per year, the 2m2c applies a strict recycling policy to prevent pollution. Practically all waste is sorted and recycled and the challenge of the 2m2c is to conduct zero waste campaigns with the aim of recycling all waste.
